Apple iTunes is several different things... it is:
A Jukebox: the world's best music Jukebox for your computer that plays your mp3s, CDs and videos;
A Store: the Jukebox also contains an online web browser that connects you to the iTunes Music Store where you can explore, buy and download music and video;
The iPod: using iTunes as an offline interface to upload all your music and video files to your iPod.

Being on is so simple, quick and wonderful for so many reasons:
Distribution: easier to manufacture and distribute globally;
Artwork: you still get cover artwork, sleeve details and even the text for the visualisations;
Compilations: customers can compile their own tracks where shorter individual tracks are available;
Savings: digital albums cost up to $13 less than the CDs;
Post-free: no expensive additional postage fees;
Instantaneous: the music is delivered instantly onto your computer to play, burn or transfer to your iPod;
Referrals: easy to tell friends by simply sending an
link.

All that is required is:
a credit/debit card
a good computer and internet connection
download and install the iTunes application
start an iTunes account by clicking "Sign In" when you install iTunes.

As more people become familiar with computers, with the internet and there will be less demand for manufacturing CDs. This helps reduce the cost of globally delivering the existing Japetus catalogue and makes it easier, cheaper and quicker to release new albums and videos over the coming decades. Less plastic means less pollution and less wastage too.
