SHAMAN JOURNEY with Nevill Drury

Drumbeat rhythms have been used for thousands of years by the tribal shaman to invoke altered states of consciousness. The repetitive drumming creates a stream of rhythm that provides a vehicle to carry the mind into the desired visionary quest. Shaman Journey allows the listener to explore the world of trance and altered states, travelling on a mystical journey to discover your totem animal.

The first part is a pure drum followed by an enhanced drum with additional atmospherics by Japetus. The shaman represents the most ancient of spiritual traditions - the healer, magician and visionary who moves between the everyday world and the realm of gods and spirits.

The shaman reminds us that the universe is alive with hope and possibility - that the gods and goddesses guide our every action. Nevill studied with a shaman in South America and plays the drum with traditional patterns stimulating the higher imagination. A copy of the visualisations is here.

This album has Nevill playing a South American hand drum and also Japetus has created a soundspace around the rhythm to sound like a whole gathering.
